Waco, TX

Hey guys, I’m really excited to tell you guys about our sweet 16 girls trip to Waco TX. We flew into Dallas from Denver, and got there around 11 am. My mom surprised me by renting a convertible, and so naturally we drove two hours to Waco with the top down!

After getting settled at our hotel we headed to grab a bit to eat at Spice Village, a shopping center nearby. We ended up getting stopped by a gentleman who worked for the Waco tours company and wound up signing up for their next tour, which ended up being one of my favorite parts of the trip.

The 2.5 hour tour was absolutely amazing, it truly showed us the heart of Waco. It included stopping at local ice cream & coffee shops, a drive by tour of Baylor University, and seeing many different Fixer Upper homes. Not to mention, learning so much about the history of Waco and stopping by many historical sites. This was a great tour to take at the beginning of our trip, because it gave us so many ideas for what we wanted to see and do on our trip; it also included information books and coupons we used throughout our trip.

Well it was a full day of tours because later that evening we went on a river tour called Waco River Safari. This tour was also a blast, it was a nice relaxing tour down the river with a beautiful sunset in the backround. I absolutely loved both of these tours and would definitely recommend them; although you should do them at the beginning of your trip.

On day two of our trip we got up early and went to Train Waco for CrossFit, which was awesome. Not only did we get a great workout in, we also met so many wonderful people and coaches. After a shower we headed down to Magnolia Market right when it opened. We LOVED Magnolia!! The shopping and food were amazing and lots of photo ops for yours truly (I’m kind of a photo addict). We got in line for the bakery right when we got there and the line was super short and we just had them wrap up our cupcakes to save for later.

Also, if you just want some silo cupcakes and don’t need other baked goods they have a cupcake food truck which usually has a shorter line. I got a grilled cheese from the Cheddar Box food truck and sweet tea from the Alabama Sweet Tea truck, which were delicious! We spent about two hours at the market, and then did quite a bit of other shopping.

We went to the Magnolia shop on Bosque which has some pretty similar things to the Market and they are discounted. I will recommend going to the Market first because if you bring your receipt from the Market to the little shop on Bosque in the same day they give you an even bigger discount. I’ll leave a list of all the places we shopped bellow!!

I will say we weren’t quite able to walk everywhere so we were grateful for the convertible. We shopped till we dropped and were able to meet up with an old friend for dinner.

On day three we slowed our pace a bit and after another great CrossFit class we headed for a late breakfast at Magnolia Table which was delicious. After we were stuffed to the brim, we went to the Dr. Pepper museum which was really fun (plenty more photo ops for me!!).

We had some great weather so that afternoon we laid out at our hotel pool which was relaxing. Our last evening included a nice dinner, ice cream and a nice sunset walk across Waco suspension bridge.

After a final CrossFit class and a two hour drive to the airport, we headed home. I absolutely loved our trip, and getting to experience Waco with my Mom and having that special time with her is something I will remember and cherish forever, and hope we can do it again someday.
