This world has been crazy right now, with everything going on with the coronavirus, and I know everyone is going through different things right now. Everyone who is affected by this crisis is in my thoughts and prayers. I know a lot of people are having to do online school and work from home right now, and as many of you know, I have homeschooled for 11 years and have done online classes since 5th grade, and I feel like I have learned a lot over the years. I want to share some of these tips with you all.
Get ready
Number one is to get ready in the morning, that doesn’t mean you have to get full-on glam, but try to get out of your pj’s and put on real clothes. It makes you feel so much more productive when you are dressed; I always feel so much better when I put on some makeup and a cute outfit.
Workout
Next is to do a workout, and I know that no one wants to hear that, but I promise it helps you stay motivated. When you get up in the morning and accomplish something, it enables you to feel so productive, and it is so motivating. Even just getting up and going on a walk or doing yoga can give you that sense of accomplishment.
Making a routine
Create a routine and stick to it; when you have a set time that you do your online classes or that you do your work, it can help keep you focused. I try to have a set morning routine that I follow every morning to help put me in that mindset of school and studying. This also includes a method for when you stop work or school; meaning that you schedule breaks and schedule when you are done for the day. That way, you can look forward to that time to disconnect and relax.
Do the hardest thing first!!
Do the hardest thing first; this is something that my stepdad tells me, and I promise it helps. It’s easy to want to push off the most daunting thing that you have to do, but if you get that done first, you feel so productive, and it’s easier to accomplish the rest of the work you have to do. I always ask myself, “Do I want this hanging over my head the whole day?” and usually the answer is no, so I do it.
To-do list
Create a to-do list; I know that sounds simple, but I swear it works wonders. When you write down everything you have to get done that day, it helps you keep organized, and on top of your game, it also makes it seem a lot less daunting. One thing I have started doing recently is making a list and then writing out three things that are the top priority for that day; that way, if I only get those three things done, I still feel productive.
No distractions
Taking away distractions is a big one when you are doing school or work from home. You can’t let what you have to do at home, distract you. Like if I went to school, I wouldn’t be distracted by the laundry in the corner of my room, so I wait until after my schoolwork is done a then focus on laundry. Now I’m sure being at home you have other responsibilities, more chores, cleaning, helping around the house, etc. that you have to get done. What I try to do is schedule those things out and put them on my to-do list and do them when it’s convenient with my school or work schedule.
Take time for yourself
It’s important to take breaks and disconnect; when you do school/ work at home it’s hard to get away from it, but it’s essential to have time to relax. Watching a movie or playing a family game can help you feel better and keep you from going crazy! I have also found that when I let my brain have a break, I am much more productive and motivated when I get back to work.
Those are my tips and tricks to help you stay productive and motivated at home, I know it can be hard at times, but over time you will find your groove. I am praying for everyone during this time, and I know that God is working during this time.
“do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.” Philippians 4:6

Thanks a ton for blogging this, it was very informative and told quite a bit
I was just chatting with my coworker about this today at lunch . Don’t remember how we got on the subject in truth, they brought it up. I do recall eating a wonderful steak salad with cranberries on it. I digress
