How To Accomplish Your New Years Resolutions

It’s the new year, Yayyy the decade is ending, and it’s time for a fresh start. I don’t know about you, but usually, a couple days before January 1st, I’m making a never-ending list of resolutions.

I get so excited and make about a million goals and say, “this year is going to be different,”; but then I forget all about them by February.  I know it’s not just me; the truth is we are on top of it for the first few days of January but slowly die away as the month goes on.

So, I know what you’re asking, “how can this year be different?”; well, I asked myself the same question, and this is what I came up with. Here we go!!

Be Realistic

This year when I started making my resolutions, I decided to cut my list down, because honestly, it’s unrealistic to think we can turn our whole life around just like that. I have four categories in my goals; faith, fitness, school, and personal. Your groups may be different than mine, but start with that and get an outline. When you start with this base, it’s easier to see what you want to accomplish this year.

Next is try to make realistic goals that fit into one of your categories; for instance, if you never workout is unrealistic for one of your goals to be to go to the gym 6 days a week right off the bat. Maybe try to go to the gym three days a week, start there and work up to 6. If you jump right into something new, you’re less likely to stick with it.

Next, don’t make a million resolutions, try to make a few goals for each category that you really want to focus on this year. If you have fewer goals, you’re more likely to spend more time on each one and actually accomplish them. Having a couple goals that are really important to you and that you have thought about makes you excited to complete them.

Make Progressive Steps

Another thing is not just to write down your goals but how you are going to accomplish them. For example, if one of your goals is to travel more, then book trips, save money, make progressive steps toward traveling. Or if one of your goals is to eat healthier, then think about what you could do to make that happen; maybe it’s merely not buying unhealthy food, trying a new diet, or not eating out as much.

If you genuinely think through each resolution and write down steps you can take toward that goal, you can see the light at the end of the tunnel and can more realistically look at your new year.

Stay Motivated

The last thing I will say is to keep your end goal in mind; every time you are tired and don’t want to go to the gym, remember that healthier lifestyle goal and motivate yourself to go.

Put your goals somewhere you will see them every day, maybe on your bathroom mirror, bedroom door, or in your car. Do your best to remind yourself what you’re working for and keep yourself inspired to be better.

I hope these tips helped; I know I’m excited to see what the new year holds and wish you all a happy new year full of fun, laughter, and love.
